I picked up this Marlin guitar by a fellow guitarist and started working on it right away. First, I cleaned the guitar, removed the neck and kept it for future projects... Then, I modified the neck pocket of the body for the new neck to fit in properly and have the right intonation. It was a tight fit and after I put a set of .9" strings, the intonation was pretty much Ok! To obtain some tuning stability, I locked the floyd licenced tremolo so that it performs just like a 6-point one(dive only).
For a little less hum and noise, I put some aluminum foil on the control cavity backplate and voila! The guitar is ready to rock again!
