Here's the AER alpha combo amp.
This little acoustic guitar combo is so tiny and yet so loud! It's a 40W, 1X8" compact combo. It's solid state and it uses a Philips/NXP TDA type chip power-amp to drive an 8" full-range, dual-cone speaker. The stock 8" AER speaker is a unit made by Sica Italy.
I think it's this model: Z004950C

The overall sound produced by from this tiny 1X8" bass reflex cab is thick, loud and clear. You can't really believe that a combo of this size could sound like that. That's probably why it costs about 900$... We even tried electric and bass guitars on it and the clean sound was amazing. It has no drive channel though and it doesn't distort at normal volume.
The problem with this little amp was that it produced a rattling sound/noise after a few years of use. The cab of this combo vibrates a lot to produce all these deciBels and something could easily loosen up after a couple of years. So, I checked every bolt and part of the amp to ensure that it's tight and does not rattle. The rattling was finally coming from the back of the 8" speaker... I was afraid that this would be the case. But don't worry, the is an easy fix for that!
Changing the on-board speaker was the obvious solution for some but it's way too expensive!... So, I wanted to examine things a bit more to find a value-for-money and way easier solution.
I noticed that the rattling was being produced a high volumes when the magnet of the speaker barely touched its metal chassis. So, I placed a small piece of rubber in the gap between the ceramic magnet and the metal chassis of the speaker. I used small pieces of rubber, placed some Uhu glue on their end and pushed them inside the gap with a small screwdriver. Guess what: the trick worked! There was no rattle and the tone remained unchanged! I placed and glued some extra rubber pieces in the same gap and closed the amp. Now the combo plays loud without any rattle. Problem fixed using a 1$ trick!
Here are some photos of the amp:
The same speaker stuffed with a few white rubber pieces! You can see these pieces glued in the small gap under the magnet of the speaker:
The amp is ready!
