The bass had a set of EMG-HZ pickups on it but the wiring was messed up a bit. Some luthiers really know how to carve wood. But, they 're not that good at soldering and wiring pickups & electronics. That's where we step in!
I removed the old pots and wired some new ones inside the bass. The EMG wiring was very helpful but the bass player wanted the tone pot to have a bit more range. So we tried a few capacitor values (10~100nF) and 250k/500k log and linear pots for the tone control in order to get it just right.
Then, the bass player asked to route the back of the body to make it more comfortable. We drew a few guidelines with a pencil and I sanded down this area with a palm sander. Then, I used high grit sandpaper to smooth out the surface and finished the back in satin clear.
The bass is now complete and I am very glad I could make a very nice bass even better!
