The guitar came in for a setup and check-up. First, I removed the old strings and cleaned the guitar thoroughly. Then, I removed the pickguard and checked all the electronics and solder joints of the guitar for continuity using a DMM and any signs of wear. The pots on the guitar were a bit scratchy so I cleaned them using a Deoxit oil-free contact cleaner. Then, I tightened all the mounting washers of the pots and bent the tip of the output jack a bit as it got a bit loose over time. Classic metallic output jacks are pretty easy to fix and they can last forever if treated properly. Then, I mounted the pickguard on the alder body and polished the frets.
Once the frets were shiny enough, I cleaned and oiled the fretboard. I also tightened the tuner washers and strap button screws. The guitar was then ready for a new set of strings and a setup. I used a fresh set of 0,009" strings to setup the guitar and I can say it was pretty easy to work on a non-recessed floyd rose original system. The guitar had also a neck tilt adjustment system and I was able to tweak the action and neck angle a bit using both this system and the floyd studs. The truss rod was adjusted for a bit of neck relief and the intonation is now perfect!
This guitar is a proper all-around hot-roded workhorse. The comfortable neck profile, the floyd original system and the HSS pickups make this strat suitable for most playing styles and tones.
Here are a few pictures of the actual guitar:
