New Korean-Strat project !

 Here 's a new guitar project I recently finished. It's a 90's "Channel" Korean-made strat style guitar.
When I bought it (for 60euros) it was covered in dust , the frets were worn out, the strings were totally rusty and and the rosewood fretboard was filthy. Here are the steps I took to put this guitar back in the game:

1st step: A good clean-up is what your used guitar 's in need for.
dispose of the old strings(they're dangerous for your health) and wipe the body and neck of the guitar using soft cloth and some soft cleaner fluid(not acid style).
There are a number of products suitable for cleaning and conditioning a fretboard (cleaners, oil etc). Be thorough during the cleaning process, it's important to get rid of of the germs, dust and rust.

  2nd step: Check your guitar.
It is important to check your new guitar for signs of fret wear, nut wear, neck warp, worn hardware, missing parts, noisy or faulty electrics. Once you have it all checked, make a list of what you need to buy in order to replace/restore any worn hardware or electrics.

 3rd step: Repair your guitar.
So, your guitar needs restoration. If your into diy, then you know there are a lot of things you can fix on your guitar for free a long as you have some skills and the right tools. This is the right time to modify your guitar if you want to as it is much easier to do mods when the guitar isn't strung up.
There are several articles and guides on the Internet that can help you. You should always be patient and careful as you don't want to damage your guitar. If you feel uncomfortable about fixing something on your guitar, take it to a good guitar-tech and ask to do it for you. Always check your guitar-tech's price list and waiting list so that you don't get to pay unreasonable amounts of cash and wait for a month to have that nut replaced...

4th step: Assemble you guitar and set it up!
Once you have your guitar repaired you can put new strings on it and then set it up. You have to know how to set up your guitar as it is something you need to do twice a year (at least). Also, when you change strings, you need to perform some micro adjustments.

5th step: Testing your new guitar!
Tune your guitar, plug it in and rock out!  If that's not the case and your guitar does some tricks, then you need to review some of the previous steps. It's frustrating, I know, but you shouldn't give up as the result will be worth the effort.
