Here's a new parts-caster guitar project! It's a strat guitar made from good quality parts.
The parts used are:
-Allparts maple/rosewood neck licenced by Fender (C shape)
-Mighty mite candy apple red finished alder body
-Mighty mite mint green pickguard and Dimarzio "Area" strat 3-pickup set
-Schaller locking tuning keys
-Gotoh tremolo unit
-bone nut
-"f" stamped neckplate
The neck was originally placed on a cheap yellow strat body which was made from a soft type of solid wood and that wasn't very reliable in terms of tuning stability and neck joint sturdiness. So we stripped down the yellow body and placed the parts of the apple red one. Then, there was another major issue: the body's neck pocket had to be modified a bit for the neck neck to fit in. The neck pocket and neck don't usually match on these partscaster projects(even if the body and neck are of the same make) so it was no surprise to me.
The guitar is now finished and it plays like a dream, much better than squiers(e.g. vintage modified) and better than a few us and mex made fenders I 've played(e.g. classic player, roadworn). That's because the assemble quality and the attention to detail on these high quality parts-casters is far superior to the quality control of the chinese and mexican factories where time IS money and mistakes aren't that hard to make.
Mass production factories should have a master quality inspection department that checks every product, especially if you're paying extra money for that. But they just don't care that much as long as they're making profit. Ultra cheap guitars could have a few flaws but what about a 500-1500$ guitar with a poor fretjob?...
