It's a pretty playable guitar with decent tones and few minor problems that can easily be fixed. The first problem I encountered was the quality of the stock cheap "Speed" knobs. I replaced these knobs with quality strat style ones. Then, I checked the electronics inside the cavities. The wiring was okay but I had to re-solder a few ground joints to get a "Star" ground topology and reduce the hum. Then, I sprayed the pots and pickup selector with some oil-free contact cleaner.
The stock pickups are hot ceramic ones. So, you can easily get good lead tones out of the guitar. I had to adjust the pickup height but that's pretty easy. I also had to lower the action and set then intonation right. The stock nut was a bit dry so I used some lemon-oil and a pencil to make it slippery.
Once the guitar was set up right and tuned, it became a pretty playable and comfortable instrument. It's certainly good for practice but it could easily cope with gigs and rehearsals.
